PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT

In May 2021, Alwena Shipping and VPLP Design decided to work together on a project for a new 90m Ropax to be operated in French Polynesia.

 

Modular and versatile, this Ropax will be able to accommodate up to three Oceanwings wings to take advantage of the year-round trade winds, and thus reduce its CO2 emissions. This ship is available in different versions, including one with diesel-electric propulsion and azimuth thrusters

Study and optimization of onboard propulsion and electrical generation systems (including interaction with Oceanwings AYRO)

Drafting of preliminary technical specifications

Validation of the mass estimate

Construction of a provisional construction schedule

Price estimates for the different propulsion versions (diesel drive and diesel electric, with optional azimuth thrusters)

Call for tenders from European and Chinese shipyards to estimate the cost of building the vessel.

Coordination and management of detail design with external design institute

Drafting of detailed specifications
