08 Dec Transport of the Titan floating dock between Cape Town and Reunion Island
An extraordinary transport operation !
Centrimex and ALWENA pooled their expertise to win the tender from the Grand Port Maritime De La Réunion and transport the “Titan” floating dock by semi-submersible ship “Transshelf” between Cape Town and Port Ouest via the Ben Schoeman basin.
An integrated offer was deployed: logistics engineering, document management, sea cleaning, coordination of loading/unloading and towing operations, with the support of 3C Metal and Afrishore in Cape Town, and in Réunion BOLUDA TOWAGE FRANCE, Pilotage, the GMC agency and the GPMDLR teams. Marine insurance was arranged with the broker Howden Broking.
Upon arrival in Réunion, the ship moored at berth 20 in the East Port, as planned during the preparatory meetings with the various stakeholders in Réunion. The ship then submerged at the quay, and the dock was put back into the water on November 10, an unusual and impressive operation.
The final stage consisted of towing the dock to the West Port, an operation carried out on November 11 with Boluda and Pilotage, under the supervision of François-Xavier LOUIS, Alwena.
This operation illustrates the strength of an agile partnership and a holistic approach to complex maritime projects 💪
